Why it’s so good...

First, I have to point out that this is not the original release of The Beatles “Let It Be”. When I first had a listen of that album many years ago, I was not a fan. The quality of that album is painful at best. Which is such a shame considering the mastery of the songwriting found on there.
So when they re-released it- this time stripping it of the orchestrations and choirs added later by producer Phil Spector- I fell in love. To hear that piano coming through so clearly, those drums punching through so tightly, the ambience of the Let It Be recordings- it was so alive.
I don’t really care too much for the drama behind the recording sessions and how bad things got between members during this time. Just listen to those songs- it’s four guys who love playing music sitting in a room and having a great time. Simple as that.
We all know that The Beatles are legendary and have some incredible albums. But this is definitely the most unique of their albums, without a doubt. It’s mature, it’s raw, and it’s so fundamental in a way that no other Beatles albums (and perhaps any other album at all) can come close to.

Listen to what’s on the radio now, how overproduced and noisy it all is.
Then put this album on. It’s just such an intimate experience.
